Zion Bleu. 9 Month Photo Session.

…beautiful, beautiful, Zion. Say hello to Zion Blue. He is the youngest of five, and the four eldest are all girls. Yes, I think this vibrant smile bumped dad off of the throne at home. His proud mama wanted to share her son’s growing smile with a nine-month photo session. She went all out for this little guy. Zion’s mama, Ange, envisioned three different types of themes to go with the western, vintage jet pilot, and Bob Marley outfits.  Ange and I brainstormed to find the perfect location for these creative ideas she had conjuring up in her head. Seriously, I love that Ange knew exactly what she wanted and prepared for her shoot. As you can see here, her ideas came to life and along with Zion’s great smile, the session looks pretty darn amazing. I can’t wait to see what she has in-store for his first birthday, which I am particularly excited for since I’m creating the photo booth. Eeeek!

Thank you Ange for allowing me to help you celebrate your baby boy’s ninth month of cuteness! Here’s a slideshow with more of Zion!Ange’s “Yee Haw” sign matched perfectly with the western backdrop. This was an authentic western location.I spy Bullseye in the back.Non-stop smiles from this stud.Look at you Zion Bleu. I just couldn’t resist rhyming:)Look at those chompers!
I found my favorite(s).
Zion’s parents are huge Bob Marley fans.
Hands.Toes.I think someone loves Bob now too.

Mr. and Mrs. Anthony & Family. Generations of Love. Part I and II.

I almost came to tears when I was asked to photograph a two-part mini-family reunion with a focus on the grandparents, which are also great-grandparents. Why, tears? I couldn’t help but think of my own Nana and Papa while preparing and photographing this beautiful family. I guess I’m so fond of the elderly because my maternal grandparents made me feel like I was a princess in a castle. Mr. and Mrs. Anthony’s family wanted me to capture un-posed, very natural shots with their grandparents and all of their offspring, especially the great-grand children. They want to remember Pat and Tom (Mrs. & Mrs. Anthony) in love with each other and the family they have created. Their family will cherish this moment in their hearts, but they will also be able to share the love that they felt this weekend. When these these little babies are all grown up, they may not remember this day, but they will still  have the chance to look back at these photos and see how much they were loved by their great grandparents.

The Anthony’s are in their eighties and live in Utah, so it is rare that they get a chance to come and visit their children and their families in California. However, Pat is a strong woman who has pulled through a quadruple bypass surgery and has fought kidney cancer so she could see all of her children get married and have children of their own. I felt so very honored when their granddaughter, Dawn, contacted me to help capture every hug, laugh and kiss through my lens. There is just something about grandparents that gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. I don’t know if it’s their soft cool skin, their thin-lipped kisses, or the mellow tone in their voice that softly whispers “I love you.” To have several generations present in your life, no matter what age you are, is priceless.

To the Anthony’s and your beautiful children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Thank you for welcoming me into your home and entrusting me with taking a glimpse into the tender embraces and silly snuggles that filled that weekend. Here’s a slideshow with pics from both days.

Part I of the Anthony Family:

On this first day of the family photo shoot, I photographed Dawn’s family which included her husband and two adorable little girls Brooklyn and Addison. Dawn’s mother, brother and sister-in-law along with  their eleven day old baby girl, Zoe are featured below.

These precious moments don’t even need captions.  Hands tell age, in a good way. Each phase in a person’s life is represented by their hands, and I like to try and tell that story with photos like these.
Oh Addie, you are worth a million and one kisses! She’s hamming it up with Uncle Paul.Sweet Pat and her daughter Lori.Baby Zoe, can you get any cuter? I think not.
Dawn you are so very lucky to have your grandmother and to have your children meet their great-grandmother that obviously adores you all!We snuck in a few posed family portraits.
Baby reminds me of a ‘lil girl Pop-Eye right here.Umm, you guys could totally be on the cover of Parenting magazine for sure!
Honestly, I wish I could have this very image of myself and my grandparents or my son and his great-grand parents. Hands down, this is my favorite photo from this session.

Part II of the Anthony Family:

On Sunday the Anthony family celebrated the engagement of Dawn’s cousin Robert to his fiancé Delyn by throwing her a bridal shower. They were joined by all of Pat and Tom’s children, Lori, Cindy and Tom (son) along with their families.

Mother and daughters sandwich.
This little guy was a character. How awesome is his smile? These cousins sure know how to make some waves!
The family really did want group portraits the second day.
These two love birds were celebrating their engagement by having a bridal shower for this pretty lady.I think little Brooklyn warmed up to me today, or maybe to my camera. Either way she stole the show!Seriously? Look at the dimple!

InStyle Blooms. The Ebell Club. Long Beach.

When I attend weddings, bridal showers, or baby showers, I literally drool over the gorgeous flower centerpieces. There is just something about the way florists and wedding event designers make putting flowers together look so effortlessly and magical, that I start thinking, I can do this! So, I try to whip up something pretty and make the already amazing looking flowers seem even more extraordinary and then I cry (not really, but that fake little sob that my baby likes to make when he thinks he has an ouch). My flower arrangements look like a hot mess. So, I bow down to all the wedding event designers, florists and anyone else that can fancy up some flowers that simply take your breath away.

I recently had the best time photographing Laura Barraza’s wedding decor for her company, InStyle Blooms. She is currently working diligently on her new website and I am honored that my photographs will be apart of her blog. She created the most breathtaking softy yellow and silver centerpieces for her bride’s wedding at The Ebell Club in Long Beach. If you look carefully you’ll see her craftiness as well. She created paper flowers out of a printed ivory antique-like craft paper. Laura also put together the sweetest candy bar full of delicious yellow-colored candies and chocolate cupcakes. To contact her please visit her Facebook page until her web page is up and running.

Laura you are beyond talented. Thank you for choosing me to help you share your work. I wish you the best of luck with your company and future weddings!
These delicate centerpieces where set out during cocktail hour.
I want this vase! This is the “new” wedding craze. Instead of putting out individual place cards, couples now opt for a whole display board style seating chart. Very crafty and cute if you ask me!This venue went so well with the romantic look of the centerpieces and modern table linens. The cake stand was also created by Laura…she is just incredible.
Sweets! My favorite photo and idea. Simple, classic and clean looking decor above the elegant fireplace. Tulips in water, who knew? Awesome!
The couple also requested that pictures from their families’ past and present be strung up together to bring an even more personalized feel to their wedding venue.
This was everyone’s favorite floral piece. These beauties were placed on the sweetheart table.

Sophie. One Year Photo Shoot.

Sophie, Sophie, Sophie! Oh how you mesmerize thee. I thought I’d get a little poetic since she’s so darn cute! Sophie’s mom and dad wanted an outdoors setting with lots of pretty natural surroundings for her styled shoot. So, we found some earthy spots and I started snapping away. I actually started to wonder if this little thang was a baby model because boy could she work the camera. I mean on her first shot, BAM! She posed into a little side slant and starred straight into the camera like, “Ya this is my birthday shoot and I’m the sweetest thing since Snow White.” I think she knows how to make her parents turn to putty, so she will get whatever she wants for her upcoming first birthday, which is a little less then two weeks away.

Happy Birthday Sophie! Hope you have the best Hello Kitty birthday party ever!

Oh hey there!

I know photographers mostly only zoom in on newborn fingers, toes, and etc, but, I think  the little itty bitty parts of babies and kiddies are adorable too! She reminds me of a baby Snow White right here.
This is her Happy Birthday Hot Air Balloon ride:)
These two are my favorites. Just simple! She was smiling up at Daddy for this one.
“Oh don’t mind me I’m just touching my adorably chubby baby toes.”Those lips!
