Elijah. Back-To-School. Grade 5.

Meet Elijah. He will be in fifth grade this year. He reminds me of a very very young Jake Ryan. And if you don’t know what movie  this actor is from then I’m not sure you can keep reading my post. Just kidding…well what can I say they only made the best cult movies in the 80’s!  As you will see in this series of photos, Elijah has a serious modelesque look, and then he gets really silly and becomes your adorably cute fifth grader. If it was only that easy for the rest of us.

Elijah must be a popular name because this is my second Back-To-School session with a boy named Elijah. Both Elijahs are pretty awesome. Yup, I think I just might have to consider this name for my next child (well when I get pregnant and if it’s a boy) because both were very handsome, super sweet, and incredibly well behaved. And, I’m sure both Elijahs are excellent students as well.

Watch out Elijah’s mama, here comes your boy’s swoon-worthy good looks followed by fifth grade girl hormones.

It’s gotta be the hair!
My favorite.
Now, this is what a fifth grade boy really looks like! Okay here he goes again throwing in his Jr. GQ looks, so I had to balance it out with my favorite silly one.

Marissa. Back-to-School. Sr. Year.

Marissa, or as I like to call her  Mimi, will soon venture into the nail-bitting, hair-pulling, and mind-numbing senior year. Yes, my second youngest sister will be class of 2013. Wowzas! I mean I remember when she was a curlycue in diapers, and now she’s growing into a young brilliant lady…(tear). Proud is an understatement when I think of my little chick-a-dee. She is truly a book worm and boy has it paid off. This girl can read a 700-page novel in an afternoon, no joke. Her reading and study skills have helped her attain her re-don-cu-lous G.P.A. and S.A.T scores. By the way, is it just me or does anyone else know that they aren’t out of 1600 anymore? I guess that goes to show my age, whaaa! Well I’m crossing my fingers, knocking on wood, and praying that she will get into her school of choice.. Can you tell I”m just a little obsessed with her academia, but that’s what big sisters do…stalk!

Good luck sister and I love you. I know you will rock your Sr. year! Muah!!!

Okay I’m just biased, duh, but she should totally model for GAP. Thank you very much!
This one is my favorite because this is her true smile, filled with sweetness, kindness and all the other wonderful nesses you could think of.

Elijah. Back-to-School. Grade 1.

I know, I know, it’s only August, but…the 2012-2013 school year is here! Like all eager beavers, when I was little, I loved school shopping. Jansport backpack, check. Hello Kitty lunch pail and pencil case, check. Plaid, satin, and jersey bows, double check. Awe yes, the smell of a brand new eraser and leather oxfords still gives me chills. As I recollect the little things that made my heart go pitter patter, I know deep down inside students are also anticipating entering a new classroom and/or meeting their new teacher for the first time.

I created a Back-to-School theme photo shoot for a very good friend’s son. Elijah is entering first grade. His mommy is a talented local artist and teacher, so I knew she would love the school-themed photo shoot. Elijah enjoys traveling with his mommy, Dodgers and dressing-up.  I wanted to make this school theme look authentic so I hunted down a vintage school desk, used real powder-everywhere kinda chalk to write some of Elijah’s favorite things on my new magnetic chalkboard wall. I’m sure ya’ll are thinking to yourselves, why more school pictures when kids take them during the year? Well, as a teacher, I know the creativeness of school-produced photos are a big BLAH! In elementary school its the same backgrounds year after year and they aren’t personalized to each child except with the typical US flag, garden or beach backdrop options. I wanted fun and festive, while also creating a space where students can show and tell more about themselves. So, ten years from now, parents can look at these photos and know exactly what their child liked and what grade they were entering.

Good luck at your new school Elijah! I know you are going to hit a home run there!!!

I’ll have my school-themed studio out for the month of August and September, so if you are interested please just email or FB me:)

Boy’s boat shoes are totally adorable. Good job, mama!

See, totally personalized! This one is also my personal favorite:)
Elijah is such a good listener, but he can also get silly…and I loved it!
