Ice Cream Gender Reveal | Seal Beach

Third time is definitely a charm! Ha! I’m not talking about our soon-t0-arrive baby number three. No, I’m actually referring to this gender reveal session. At first I thought it would be adorable take our gender reveal photos at my favorite local old-fashion ice cream parlor, Fosselman’s. That didn’t work out so well. They didn’t have blue colored ice cream, so we got green (pistachio) which our son didn’t like. It was the beginning of our little heat wave in sunny Southern California so there was like a million and one people in line, which didn’t allow for any space to take indoor photos. Our second shot at it was on an overcast and cool Sunday afternoon at Huntington Beach. Ya, you know it seemed like just the right temp and we found the perfect blue gelato off of the pier. Wah wah it melted in ten-seconds flat and this time my daughter was cranky because it was cold. What a bust I tell ya! I lost all hope and was about to give-up and just post a photo of some gender specific piece of clothing, until my husband suggested I make the adorable ice cream cone cupcakes. I almost slapped him in the face, but the kids were watching (lol), because hello why didn’t he mention this to me before?! He knows I have baby brain right now and I can’t think! Ughhh. So, here you have it folks it was a humid overcast day with unmeltable (I know I made that up) ice creams and two extra excited kids. Yay, we did it! Thanks Schmookie husband, I still love you! Take a guess what I’m having before you look!2015-03-12_00012015-03-12_00022015-03-12_00032015-03-12_00042015-03-12_00052015-03-12_00062015-03-12_00072015-03-12_00082015-03-12_00092015-03-12_00102015-03-12_00112015-03-12_00122015-03-12_00132015-03-12_00142015-03-12_00162015-03-12_00172015-03-12_00192015-03-12_00202015-03-12_00212015-03-12_00222015-03-12_00242015-03-12_00252015-03-12_00272015-03-12_00282015-03-12_00292015-03-12_00302015-03-12_00312015-03-12_00342015-03-12_00352015-03-12_00362015-03-12_00372015-03-12_0038

McCarty Family. Family. Los Angeles Family Photographer.

Life is the journey you create with your loved ones. You can watch them pass by within a blink of an eye or you can embrace every second and enjoy each moment. Either way I am here because I want to help you capture your family as a timeless piece of art. I want to photograph a true tender touch, the gleam in your child’s eye, and the way you embrace each member of your family. I’m here to document your growing love in every form and every stage. Sometimes, like myself, people get carried away in the perfect pose and Christmas card image. And of course, don’t get me wrong, I love me an awesome Christmas Card photo! That’s why I do my Minis. But the way I see it is to find beauty in an image is to do it creatively, artistically and with the most genuine interactions. I’ve learned that babies, children, and just people in general grow in significant amounts in such little time. So, my favorite time with my family is the present. When you are in front of my lens I want to show that right there at that moment, those unique stages in your family’s lives is your favorite time.

I couldn’t have asked for better families to represent their favorite times in front of my camera. I had the pleasure once again to photograph the sweet and curious McCarty family. Last year their daughter Abigail and twins just stole my heart and this year they stole my breath (almost literally). I was chasing these three pretties all over the Arboretum and I had the best time doing it! As a parent and photographer my view, in photos, have changed a bit. My favorite shots are the ones where children are just having fun and loving one another. You’ll see that in the McCarty’s photos. Facial structures change. Last year the McCarty twins were a little over six months and they had big bright eyes, gummy gums, and absolutely very minimal hair. At this stage (a little over a year and some months) they are full on, pig-tail wearing, teeth-smiling, toddlers. And their dear big sister Abigail has grown a bit too. Here eyes have changed colors a tad but her sweet smile stays the same. Here is the McCarty’s and their daily journey in love and life with a big sister and twin toddlers.

Toapanta Family. Family. Orange County Family Photographer.

The Toapanta family got together to celebrate a beautiful woman and her life as a wife, mother, and now grandmother. If you ask me Lorraine doesn’t look a day over forty and that’s all anyone needs to know about how many candles she had on her cake this year. Christina, her eldest daughter, had shared with me at her recent maternity session that her and her family wanted to surprise their mom with some birthday photos. First off I love birthdays and then photo session surprises are even more of a treat! I was excited to reconnect (the Topanta sister’s and I went to high school together…go Tigers!) with their sweet sweet as can be family. Lorraine couldn’t thank me enough for the wonderful surprise. It was really all Mr. T’s (so cool, right?) and his family’s idea. I was just there to document that love that bonds families together. All I could think of was, wow you look exactly how I remember at all of our track meets. I was going to say how lovely all the Toapanta women are, but they aren’t all Topantas anymore. They’ve grown up and now are married. On top of that their baby brother isn’t such a baby anymore either! He’s one handsome young man and his girlfriend also came to join in on the festivities. What a perfect bunch!

So here’s to a beautiful happy birthday photo session for Lorraine! I wish you many many more candles on that birthday cake and a bundle more grandchildren (because this first one is just a doll) as well!
