Alma | Maternity |Orange County

When it’s time it’s time. The journey into parenthood is different for every single mother, father, and couple. Along that path into creating a new life, there is always so much love behind each dream and prayer. Alma and her husband have patiently waited and now they are bursting with joy because it’s their time to bring a new life, new love, and new family member into their homes and hearts.

I always feel so honored when my clients share their walk into becoming parents, whether it’s the first, third, or fifth time. We all have our stories and I love hearing each and every one. Then what story do I give? If they are first-timers, then I share my number one (which are really two or three ) mommy-tip; 1. Use a pacifier. It’s great to prevent SIDS and soothes them when you’re pulling your hair out at 3am from nursing straight for the past three hours. 2. Buy a rock-n-play and use the heck out of it. My children slept in that thing like a snug bug in a rug! 3. Definitely don’t be afraid to use all the necessary resources to maintain nursing. It’s tough, but so are we!

And oh their session was heart-warming with the sweetest and most enduring touches, which I know their babe will receive forever! Just take a look!

Nihaal | Family & First Birthday Smash | Orange County

The Pooni family looking all spiffy in cobalt blue, a first birthday, and well my favorite open field made for a pretty perfect summer session! Let me introduce to Nihaal. He turned one over the summer and I was the lucky one to meet such a character. Hands down Nihaal makes the best faces ever! He amused us with smiles and puckers throughout his entire birthday session. If someone had a camera on me too you’d see us all cracking up. I have a feeling he’s going to be the life of the party one day. Until then here are some of my favorites of the lovely Pooni family of three.

Our Babe | Part Two | Newborn Photography

What can I say, I’m a bit obsessed with taking photos of my kids. I just can’t help myself! It’s their little toes, squishy noses, and overall innocence that gets me. Like they say, “time flies” and boy it sure does! I get all emotional just thinking about how I started my photography business. When my son was born a little over four years ago I really wanted to capture every single possible moment of his life. It took us a little while to get pregnant so when he arrived I couldn’t help but take a daily, weekly, monthly, and each milestone photo. Once I started clicking I literally couldn’t stop. I knew I was passionate about photography when I was in high school, but I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed making people smile (especially my son) and capturing those beautiful images. Now I am so obsessed with trying to perfect the ideal balance between a pretty posed shot and a effortlessly beautiful candid image that I want to practice on my children all the time. Here are a little bit of both types of photos. And now that our family is complete I really want to make sure I get as many of their “growing up together” moments before they all part their ways into adult hood and all I’m left with are my memories and these photos of my beautiful babes! (I know those last couple of lines had my throat in a knot) 2015-07-13_00202015-07-13_00022015-07-13_00032015-07-13_00042015-07-13_00052015-07-13_00062015-07-13_00072015-07-13_00082015-07-13_00092015-07-13_00102015-07-13_00112015-07-13_00122015-07-13_00132015-07-13_00142015-07-13_00152015-07-13_00162015-07-13_00172015-07-13_00182015-07-13_00192015-07-13_00212015-07-13_00222015-07-13_00232015-07-13_00242015-07-13_0025

Our Babe | Five Days New |Newborn Photography

Our babe has finally arrived! Everett came into our world in the afternoon (just like his siblings) on a Friday. I knew that this being our third child we had no time to waste in order to get to the hospital. So at five a.m. in the morning of June 19th we zoomed off to meet our little man. Around seven hours and half a push later we met our sweet baby boy. Just the feeling of being alive and knowing that we had a safe and healthy delivery made my little heart explode with pure bliss. It was like the 4th of July had come early! I kissed his long tender fingers and caressed his sweet little head full of hair as I wept with tears of joy. He was so tiny, much smaller then my first two, but I was still in awe of how this big little human being grew in my belly for ten months. He was alive and well, I was alive and well and that’s all that mattered at his first moments of life. I thanked God for all of the beauty that surrounded me. So here we are a bit over two weeks later and this mister is going great!

Here is one of his individual newborn sessions at just five days new. He was awake and asleep for his photography debut which was exactly how I wanted it so I could get a bit of his personality shining through and of course those dreamy sleepy baby faces. Here is my take on a minimalist newborn session and to make it even more perfect (for my taste) I made this a black in white series, which I’ve always wanted try!

Brunch For Our Babe Everett | Baby Shower |Bailey Street Kitchen

I thought I might as well blog my baby shower before our babe Everett arrives and only leaves me time to snuggle and adore his little itty bitty parts. For my third and last baby shower, I really wanted to reflect more of my personal style then a classic baby shower. I love all things modern with a twist of midcentury feel, everything clean and classic, and lots of plants so that’s where my heart decided to take my ideas and turn them into my babe brunch. Indigo, tie dye and ferns laid the foundation for my color pallet and I couldn’t be happier with the way everything got literally pieced together. I grabbed items from everywhere, Ikea to store fronts in Downtown LA, while purchasing delectable desserts and renting gorgeous stands. I wish I could say I accomplished this feat all by myself, but thank goodness I didn’t have to because I wouldn’t have finished in time. My sister and her husband along with my husband all contributed to my boho-inspired intimate baby shower brunch. I can’t say thank you enough for how much I adore them for all their love and support .

We kept the itinerary simple by only playing a few fun games. My favorite game what guessing the title of the most poplar children’s books. The reader of the year, my mother, would have won but that wouldn’t have been fair. The runner up was my dear friend Charm who just so happens two have two toddlers and is a teacher. Hmm, I guess that wasn’t too fair to all the other ladies either. Ha! What I love the most is to give, so what better way to show my appreciation to each guest for attending then to give them something that I would love. Each friend and family member had a chance to create their own DIY hanging succulent terrarium. It turned out to be a huge hit! After that, each guest was asked to draw an image that would represent the letter of whichever alphabet card they had chosen. I have to say I loved watching everyone color and create their best work so that I would have a full alphabet card collection for my babe Everett.

Oh and I can’t forget about the beautiful personalized calligraphy that I ordered from a hip instagram follower. My dear sweet girlfriend Svea also came to the rescue the day before my shower to help me design the Pinterest wall hanging, which I loved so much that its now it’s hanging in my house. Also big hugs to my girl Nancy, she makes amazing cakes and her decorating skills are superb, but I didn’t want her to do any work so instead she baked my cake and covered it in fondant and I tried my very best to decorate it. I hope I lived up to her cake decorating standards!

Bobby & Lauren | Proposal | Newport Beach

Surprise proposals are kind of like jack-in-the boxes, so much anticipation and excitement but never knowing what to really expect. Bobby was ready. He had his master plan, from the exact time they would begin and end dinner down to the second sunset was going to occur. We had met a few weeks before to go over the path where he would so sneakily walk her toward his ideal proposal spot. Like most events that are well-planned there is always some sort of road block or two. That afternoon the sun was setting fast and there was a nearby wedding taking place so security was extra tight. Bobby had perviously coordinated with the staff for his proposal, but for some reason not every single member was informed. After I arrived let’s just say we needed to pull out Plan B. Bobby was a trooper and I admired him for being so calm and collective as the sunlight slowly faded into the ocean all the while he was still trying to make his way and escort Lauren to his perfect proposal spot. I lurked around the corner trying my best not to be seen or heard. Bobby really wanted natural light shots, so using flash was strictly for use in case of a Plan C. As the time ticked I felt like yelling at the sun to stop, to wait and allow it’s beautiful hues of orange and red to glisten over Bobby and Lauren’s proposal. I guess my mental yelling helped a bit because we made it just in time. It wasn’t completely dark and I was able to capture the most nerve-wrecking session I have ever experienced.

Congratulations Bobby and Lauren! Your love runs deep. I could tell because within the few minutes I was able to photograph you together I felt your warmth, happiness, and connection surround you both like a thick winter blanket. If you can make it through this intense evening, you two kids can make it through anything!  2015-03-29_00262015-03-29_00032015-03-29_00042015-03-29_00062015-03-29_00072015-03-29_00092015-03-29_00102015-03-29_00112015-03-29_00122015-03-29_00132015-03-29_00142015-03-29_00152015-03-29_00172015-03-29_00182015-03-29_00202015-03-29_00212015-03-29_00222015-03-29_00232015-03-29_00242015-03-29_00252015-03-29_00272015-03-29_00282015-03-29_00292015-03-29_00312015-03-29_00322015-03-29_0033

Baby Emilee | Newborn

February 18, 2015 baby Emilee brought extra love into the Rogers’ family. This adorable trio (plus their loving doggie) is now a proud family of four. Knowing the Rogers’ for some time now it was my pleasure to help them celebrate the new life they brought into this world and their newly purchased home with this lifestyle newborn photo session. Hurray! Big brother is also as ecstatic as can be! His smiles definitely charmed me throughout our session, so much so that I wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home. Congratulations Rogers’, you sure are a picture perfect looking family!

Baby Oliver | Newborn Lifestyle | Huntington Beach

Baby Oliver. Twenty-one days young. Connie and Oliver (Sr. aka dad) had been very anxious to meet their little bundle. Cupid must have saved an extra arrow for these three because Oliver arrived, just as scheduled, on February 14, 2015. Then the love bug hit them and they were hooked! Making his grand entrance into the world Oliver came in weighing just a little over 9 whopping pounds. How in the heck did this chunk of love come out of his little mama? You can see how adorable and tiny Connie looked during her maternity session a few months ago.

Both parents wanted to make sure to capture as many photos as they could of their first baby.  They requested that I focus mostly on their handsome babe and well, I did. The photo below is a sweet one of all three of them that I snuck into the session. The rest are of all the most precious itty bitty parts and curiously cute faces of Oliver.2015-03-10_00012015-03-10_00022015-03-10_00032015-03-10_00042015-03-10_00052015-03-10_00062015-03-10_00072015-03-10_00082015-03-10_00092015-03-10_00102015-03-10_00112015-03-10_00122015-03-10_00132015-03-10_00142015-03-10_00152015-03-10_00162015-03-10_00172015-03-10_00182015-03-10_00192015-03-10_00202015-03-10_00212015-03-10_00222015-03-10_00232015-03-10_00242015-03-10_00252015-03-10_00262015-03-10_00272015-03-10_00282015-03-10_0029
