My baby girl. Half Birthday. Personal.

Yesterday on Instagram I reposted a quote. “Love people while they are here.” I am determined to live by this, and love fiercely. Life is not certain, but I know I want to be a greater presence with those that I love. I will celebrate every birthday and half birthday. With that, “Happy 1/2 Birthday Ellie!” My daughter’s half year celebration seemed to come a lot sooner then my son’s. Maybe because I’m ten times busier. Ay, ya, yai!

My daughter is beautiful and I love her with all my heart (we all do). She is very observant, always watching and listening. She is calm (thank goodness because her brother was a whole different story). Her giggles are endless while she watches her brother jump on the bed (like a monkey…Double Ay!).  Her little tongue slithers out like a snake when she is feeling silly. Her coos sounds like she is saying “mama” and “hi”. She makes us laugh every time she grabs her toes while we change her. She makes her brother crack up with her “pedos” which is quickly followed by her brother’s “Excuse me.” Just like her brother, she’s not a fan of tummy time. Like her Dada, she can sleeps like a log while there’s a party going on. And like her mama, she has to hold something to fall asleep. Currently, her choice of  stuffed animal is my son’s Simba. When I was a baby up until I was a toddler, I had a “raggie” (which is an old cut up piece of cloth) that was literally my security blanket. Oh like mother like daughter. She enjoys sitting…well at least for a few minutes at a time, then plop! She really wants to eat food, bad. Every time we are eating dinner she tries to grab our cups, forks, you name it-she’s ready! Later today she will finally get to join us for dinner as she will try solids for the first time. We are blessed that she has entered our hearts and family. We love her and she loves us.

Happy 1/2 Birthday my dear! Mama loves you!

Isaac. Grooming The Groom. Los Angeles Wedding Photographer.

“Are you kidding me?” This is a typical phrase that I’m sure everyone has either used or heard lately, but it works so well with just about every emotion one is trying to convey, especially one of excitement. And well, it’s exactly what ran through my head when I heard Aileen and Isaac’s idea. As we sat together discussing their upcoming wedding, they laid the bomb on me. This very hip couple decided to opt out of their engagement photos and instead use the time for a “Man’s session” (what I like to call it). Now, as much as I love ice cream, I adore engagement sessions, but their idea to have the groom and his guys get ready for the big day at his brother’s vintage barber shop, Double Edge Barber Parlor, was just the next best thing to ice cream AND cake! I was all in and ready to photograph the heck out of it!

Isaac, the eldest of four (all brothers) is probably the most shy. He sat there, in a pretty bad ass vintage chair, waiting to get his hair trimmed by his brother. Through out the beginning of the evening I gave Iassac a few directions and he was super chill. He just smiled and followed my lead. I could see how Aileen could easily fall for such a gentleman.  Slowly everyone (his two youngest brothers, one of his buddies, father and father-in-law) started to stroll into the shop. They were all a tame bunch of guys, but then again it was a Tuesday night and I was there, literally watching their every move. Some got lathered up while a few were “sipping on some sys-surp” (j.k. Just liquor) and playing pool. Yes, how cool is that? All in all, they gabbed about what they were wearing to the wedding and their day at work. The photos came out fab if you ask me, but that had a ton to do with the fact that they dressed super accordingly. Vest, suspenders, wingtip shoes…uh ya no matter for ladies or gents what you where makes a huge difference. Oh and this couple wanted their photos to have a vintage feel so here is my first ever all black and white session.

Erandy. Maternity. Orange County Maternity Photographer.

I can’t express enough how much beauty there is when a woman is with child. Maternity photo sessions are my favorite right now because I have so many gorgeous women coming my way wanting to share the love that they have for their baby-on-the-way. Their figures which bare these precious bundles are like exquisite time vessels carrying life and displaying the time that literally passes before your eyes as their belly grows. Our bodies are incredible I tell ya! I always feel honored when people ask me to photograph their lovely family, wedding, or pregnancy. With Erandy, an ah-maze-ing makeup artist, I felt just the same. I love making new friends, especially those that are passionate for their craft, like this gal. Seriously, I love this biz because I’ve made so many talented friends and now I get to photograph their journey through life.

This will be Erandy’s third child (third baby boy). Let me tell you, she makes some handsome fellas! Her boys are absolutely as sweet as sugar and have looks that are going to melt some hearts….and I’m not just saying this because it’s close to Valentine’s Day either (lol). Erandy came to me wanting to create a natural and intimate maternity session. I took her to one of my favorite spots where nature is at it’s best. The weather was perfect, she was radiant, and well everything just fell into place. Erandy looked like Angelina Jolie meets forest goddess. It was also a combination of her dresses and flower crown (by Laura from Instyle Blooms) that made everything perfect.

Thank you Erandy for helping me create some  lovely images of you and your beautiful belly. I know your hubby and children will cherish these images for years to come. To all your men at home, please enjoy all the beauty that is coming your way.

Rosa, Vince & Christian. Family. Orange County Family Photographer.

Not that I’m a pro or anything, but I do feel that I have a bit of parental knowledge under my belt now that I have an almost three year old boy and five month old baby girl. When the parents from my family sessions and I discuss their child or children, I don’t like to preach, I just like to teach. “Ha, ha I made a funny.” Actually, because I’m also a teacher, I do try and give examples from my experiences to relate and connect with my beautiful families. This totally applies to the session with Rosa, Vince and Baby Christian.

I met Rosa and Vince through a very sweet client and friend of ours. It was an instant match! I love when I get referred because it makes me feel all special inside knowing that my former clients and friends like me, they really like me :). I actually first met this cute couple and their son Christian at our mutual friend’s daughter’s birthday party. They were running around chasing their adorable little guy and jokingly told me that I was going to get a little work out at their upcoming family session. I said, no worries, I have a son around that age and well…that’s how I get my workouts in. Well, they didn’t disappoint because we all chased, swung, threw (in a gentle way) and lifted headstrong little Christian. I loved it, really! It reminded me of my son, because my daughter (as most girls are) is the complete opposite. She is as still as a flamingo on one leg. I don’t know why I used that simile…probably because they’re pink. Throughout our session we went on discussing little boys and their active bodies. We even talked about our little guys and their farting bodies too. Yup I said it, boys are farters! We continued the session, sharing, running and laughing.

Thank you Rosa and Vince for keeping me entertained and for being such a sweet couple…and umm a totally hot couple too! By the way I love the way Christian speaks Spanish. It’s so darn cute! rb1rb2rb3rb4rb5rb6rb7rb8rb9rb10rb11rb12rb13rb14rb15rb16rb17rb18rb19rb20rb21rb22rb23

Zoey. Smash. Los Angeles Baby Photographer.

My clients have the cutest names. Meet Zoey and her very girly-like ways of cake smashing. This precious little gem has been the most delicate cake smasher I’ve had yet. She gently placed her teeny hands on the frosting and then took a few licks. Although Zoey was extra careful to keep it clean, she still managed to get some of the pink frosting from the naked cake on her nose, top of her head, and all over her chin. I think this was good practice for her birthday party which is coming up soon. Happy Birthday Zoey!

Ruby. Smash. Los Angeles Smash The Cake Photographer.

Little Miss Ruby Zelda is in a league of her own. She is as adorable as her cute little orange Mexican huaraches. Ruby is turning one and here is her circus-themed Smash session. I kinda wanted to borrow all of her outfits, well for my daughter of course. Aside from all her smiles and silly faces, her favorite leisure activities are listening to songs (best sung by her dad) and dressing up in all of the creative little getups that her mom puts together. Happy Birthday Ruby Red (what I like to call her).

Annie, Don & Baby Max. Holiday. Los Angeles Family Photographer.

Meet Annie and her adorable family. We have oodles and oodles in common. We started photography as a second career/hobby, now its oh so much more than that.  We were pregnant at the same time, met one another at a photography workshop, and have an immense amount of crafty and creative ideas…way more than our poor minds and hubbies can handle. Annie, you are as cute as your name and I am glad we met and have become friends. I just want to eat up your son. He’s so cute, but I’ll settle for his sweet cheeks. Your husband is so kind and patient, please tell him I said hello!ab1ab4ab5ab6ab7ab8ab9ab10ab11

Bodhi. Smash. Los Angeles Baby Photographer.

As soon as I walked in, this little nugget treated me like I was his sweet heart. He batted his gorgeous big eyes and wanted to play right away.  He really knows how to impress a girl. Then his mom and grandmother informed  me he likes “all” girls. There went my little ego. I’m sure this stud muffin isn’t going to have any problem in the ladies department when he gets older. Throughout his big Smash session, he wanted to play, laugh, crawl and then giggle some more. Then came time for the big smasharoo and as you can see, he took his job very serious. Bodhi ate, smashed, pounded, flipped and then finally demolished his first birthday cake. Besides it getting all over the place, a bit did actually get in his mouth. Happy Birthday Bodhi! bb1bb2bb3bb4bb5bb6bb7bb8bb9bb10bb11bb12bb13
