Noah. Smash the Cake. Los Angeles Lifestyle Photographer.

Happy 1st Birthday to Noah!  After successfully recovering from Cranio surgery, this little mighty muscle man is celebrating his firs birthday as a rootin’ tootin’ cowboy. Of course his mommy, daddy, and his aunties helped come up with the adorable details for his Smash the Cake photo session. What can I say, I’m completely subdued by Noah’s charm. Really… he plays hard to get. My lens will look deep into his big brown eyes and he’ll give me that “Noah” look as I like to call it. It’s almost like a stare down, eyes to camera. We stare and stare until he finally breaks and I get the most charming little smile. Ya, he’s going to be a heartbreaker for sure. I think Noah gives me his look because I have seen him grow from the time he was inside his mommy’s belly, to when he was a whittle newbie, until right before his Cranio surgery, and now as a handsome one year old. Noah you sure are a birthday champion!
These two are my favorite. Check him out showing off his vintage cowboy hat. Yeehaw! I think he’s saying “where did the hat go mama?” Ha!

Janelle. First Year. Orange County Baby Photographer.

This little one is cute and she knows it! Janelle, will turn the big ONE this December. Along with her cuteness and sass, Nellie (as her parents call her) looked adorable in her embroidered Mexican dress and hot pink flower. To add a little icing to the cake, mommy and daddy brought along a bunch of Mexican-themed accessories. There was also another theme that I oh so loved, PINK! Her hot pink dress and blanket were perfect to enhance Nellie’s bright personality. Maybe just once I had to jump up and down, and act like a crazy person to get a giggle out of her. Most of the times when I do this, kids just look at me like I’m some weirdo with a monstrous camera in their face. Despite the fact that it was raining off and on during our entire session, Nellie was also super well behaved. Nellie is in love with her parents just as much as they are with her. And I’m in love with their cute little family!

Happy first Birthday Janelle! Remember you owe my son a play date! Hee He he.
Just excuse her twinkle toes. She’s quite the flexible one for sure!My favorite! Can a photo be cute and comical at the same time? You decide, but I think so. Nellie…stop screaming at me, I’m sorry for taking so many photos of you..ahhh!Seriously. This has to be my second favorite because daddy is just way into giving his little baby girl the biggest smooch ever. Love it!I think this one is hilariously cute because she looks like she throwing up “West Side”…lol Janelle, has mommy been teaching you baby signing? Look at all these pretty colors and Janelle just adds even more prettiness.Looks like she got caught. Caught being cute.Sweetness.

Juliana. Year ONE. Los Angeles Baby Photographer.

What’s the most precious gift to receive on Christmas? Well, a baby of course! Duh, people! Duh! Lately my son thinks it’s hilarious when he says any name followed by duh (especially, Duh, Momma! Duh!). Last year on December 25th, Carolina and David were blessed with a beautiful and healthy baby girl. I was honored to help design and decorate Carolina’s woodland themed baby shower, as well as creating and photographing a photo booth for her that day. Now, almost three hundred and sixty-five days later, they are preparing to celebrate their daughter’s first birthday and their first Christmas at home instead of a hospital. Now, you can call Carolina one of Santa’s little helpers because this year she has time to  set up pretty gold accents and sweet smelling pine cones to celebrate her daughter’s first year and the magic of the season.

Carolina you have a beautiful family, and you are such a sweet mama. Juliana’s personality just shines through these photos. Your smiles and warmth oozed out of my lens, making it so much easier for me to share your love for one another. Just a little early, but Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas sweet pea!I just love everything thing about this!Hello. Cute family! Can you get any cuter?
I love daddy’s expressions here. So real and hilarious! These are the natural moments that I love capturing!
Carolina, I know you’ve always been pretty since high school, but seriously, you are a stunna here:)Again, her giggly personality is too freaking adorable! There she goes! Some one was being a girly girl that didn’t even want to get her hands dirty. It’s like she’s saying, “Come on people! I’m wearying silver polka dots and pink tights. You want me to dirty this outfit?”Still a little unsure. With mama and dada’s help, she made a small dent.

Emmett’s County Fair. First Birthday. Whittier.

Better late then never, right? Sorry for the delay, but I’ve been caught up with just about everything. Work, photography, being a mother, and you name it, takes up little chunks of my short day. No worries. It’s almost a month later but I’m  finally posting the pictures from my son’s “Big One.” Yes, sir-eee! My son turned one last month. Most parents will say time flew by, well not me. I couldn’t wait until he turned the ripe ole’ age of one…he he! This is the truth. I loved when he was cooing and sleeping the day away but we also had our scares within the first year of his life. Our son was diagnosed with GERD, which is a reflux problem. He would spit up way more than I had burp cloths to clean up the mess with. At times, he would choke on his spit which made it difficult for him to breathe. This totally freaked me out. Being the paranoid mother that I am, I just longed for the months when doctors said he would outgrow this issue (and the risk of SIDS as well). I couldn’t wait until his first birthday. Now, we are blessed with a wonderfully healthy one year old and we couldn’t be happier. To celebrate this momentous occasion and our own personal victory of surviving the first year, we decided to go a little overboard on his very special birthday!

Of course I started planning and pinning ideas for his big bash after his half birthday. My son gets totally giddy when he is around animals, especially mangy mutts. So, I wanted to incorporate animals into his birthday party. The wheels in my brain started turning and I got it! I decided on a county fair theme where we could have a petting zoo for all the kids. The theme grew from there and with much support from my super creative family and friends…Voila!

Welcome to Emmett’s County Fair

Since a county fair is a very neutral theme I decided to spray paint most of the farm animals blue so people could tell is was a boy’s birthday party.

Piñata bags and place mats for the little ones.

The center pieces were all decorated by moi. The pictures came from his monthly photo shoot.
These pie pops were to die for. Made with love by my sweet friend, Charm.
Also made with love and excuisite detail by my dear friend and creator of  Miss Fancy Nancy Cakes. Dada and birthday boy.
We also had a few games for the older kids to play.

Instead of creating a photo booth I thought it would only be fitting to have a classic photo op with some painted animals…just like at the real county fairs.
Some of our friends from the petting zoo.
Custom designed piñatas also fit the theme perfectly!
Okay, okay I sort of created a photo booth but it was only for his smash the cake pictures.
If you couldn’t tell by now we were going for a 1940’s county fair theme. Sort of like in the Notebook (my favorite move of all time). We love our little guy so much!SMASH THE CAKE!
