I know, I know, it’s only August, but…the 2012-2013 school year is here! Like all eager beavers, when I was little, I loved school shopping. Jansport backpack, check. Hello Kitty lunch pail and pencil case, check. Plaid, satin, and jersey bows, double check. Awe yes, the smell of a brand new eraser and leather oxfords still gives me chills. As I recollect the little things that made my heart go pitter patter, I know deep down inside students are also anticipating entering a new classroom and/or meeting their new teacher for the first time.
I created a Back-to-School theme photo shoot for a very good friend’s son. Elijah is entering first grade. His mommy is a talented local artist and teacher, so I knew she would love the school-themed photo shoot. Elijah enjoys traveling with his mommy, Dodgers and dressing-up. I wanted to make this school theme look authentic so I hunted down a vintage school desk, used real powder-everywhere kinda chalk to write some of Elijah’s favorite things on my new magnetic chalkboard wall. I’m sure ya’ll are thinking to yourselves, why more school pictures when kids take them during the year? Well, as a teacher, I know the creativeness of school-produced photos are a big BLAH! In elementary school its the same backgrounds year after year and they aren’t personalized to each child except with the typical US flag, garden or beach backdrop options. I wanted fun and festive, while also creating a space where students can show and tell more about themselves. So, ten years from now, parents can look at these photos and know exactly what their child liked and what grade they were entering.
Good luck at your new school Elijah! I know you are going to hit a home run there!!!
I’ll have my school-themed studio out for the month of August and September, so if you are interested please just email or FB me:)

I found my favorite(s).
Zion’s parents are huge Bob Marley fans.

I think someone loves Bob now too..jpg)
My sister was bling blinging from the California necklace I bought her to the True bracelet her boyfriend gave her.
This handsome guy just taking it in.
My sister’s crew minus a few. The handsome guy from above took this picture of us..jpg)

Here’s to us and the men we love!
Our wine tour guide was the best. I told her where to stand and she fired away. Yes, she definitely wanted to be my second shooter for the day.
My friends make me happy. Muah to you all!
I want to retire here for sure!
Someone please book this for your wedding venue just so I can go and take in all it’s beauty again. It’s stunning inside and out!
Live. Laugh. Love your friends!.jpg)

Another one taken by our wine guide. Yep, she got a generous tip!
Isn’t the white horse magical? Let’s just stick a horn on its head, and call it a unicorn, Yes?
We stopped at an oil and vinegar tasting spot and then another winery.
Shabby chic shack! Enough said.
The more you drink, the more creative you get…or dorky?
We felt like kids again.
Totally real!
We didn’t wine taste here, but it was the best spot, like for real! This was a hidden gem. We had a few, and the only thing they served to eat was the best tri-tip sandwich in all of So Cal!
The End. Thank you Santa Barbara, we love you and your wine! ‘Till next time..jpg)
These precious moments don’t even need captions.
Hands tell age, in a good way. Each phase in a person’s life is represented by their hands, and I like to try and tell that story with photos like these.
Oh Addie, you are worth a million and one kisses!
She’s hamming it up with Uncle Paul.
Sweet Pat and her daughter Lori.
Baby Zoe, can you get any cuter? I think not.
Dawn you are so very lucky to have your grandmother and to have your children meet their great-grandmother that obviously adores you all!

We snuck in a few posed family portraits.
Baby reminds me of a ‘lil girl Pop-Eye right here.
Umm, you guys could totally be on the cover of Parenting magazine for sure!
Honestly, I wish I could have this very image of myself and my grandparents or my son and his great-grand parents. Hands down, this is my favorite photo from this session.

Mother and daughters sandwich.
This little guy was a character.
How awesome is his smile?
These cousins sure know how to make some waves!
The family really did want group portraits the second day.
These two love birds were celebrating their engagement by having a bridal shower for this pretty lady.
I think little Brooklyn warmed up to me today, or maybe to my camera. Either way she stole the show!
Seriously? Look at the dimple!

These delicate centerpieces where set out during cocktail hour.
I want this vase!
This is the “new” wedding craze. Instead of putting out individual place cards, couples now opt for a whole display board style seating chart. Very crafty and cute if you ask me!

This venue went so well with the romantic look of the centerpieces and modern table linens.

The cake stand was also created by Laura…she is just incredible.

Sweets!
My favorite photo and idea. Simple, classic and clean looking decor above the elegant fireplace. Tulips in water, who knew? Awesome!
The couple also requested that pictures from their families’ past and present be strung up together to bring an even more personalized feel to their wedding venue.
This was everyone’s favorite floral piece. These beauties were placed on the sweetheart table.

Oh hey there!

I know photographers mostly only zoom in on newborn fingers, toes, and etc, but, I think the little itty bitty parts of babies and kiddies are adorable too!

She reminds me of a baby Snow White right here.

This is her Happy Birthday Hot Air Balloon ride:)
These two are my favorites. Just simple!
She was smiling up at Daddy for this one.
“Oh don’t mind me I’m just touching my adorably chubby baby toes.”

Those lips!
The she is with her beau.
This is my fave for sure!
Our entire family put a lot of thought and effort into all the simple things that adorned Gens on graduation day.
The three eldest sisters. Thanks for taking this photo husband!
I think he adores her. Oh love.
It was a very bright day.
Some of the sweet treats from her Fiesta-themed grad party.

Photo booth time, all Mexicaned-up!

The most delicious cake ever by Fancy Nancy Cakes.
