I love Pinterest, but who doesn’t? I think I’ve mentioned that a couple of hundred times. Well, I love getting compositional image inspiration from there for both my professional and personal photography. A few years back I came across a gorgeous photo of a mother and her daughter lying down in opposite directions. The little blurb underneath the photo said that this image could be taken annually to show the child’s growth and age. A light bulb went off and I thought how wonderful this would be to take a picture like this every Father’s Day for my son. In my mind I created my own perfect pose with my son and husband, but that was a fail for the first two Father’s Days. Father’s Day number one I completely ran out of time. Father’s Day number two, when my son was a little over a year old, he just wouldn’t stay still for the life of him. I was super sad that I had already lost two opportunities. Not this year! No matter what I was determined to get that shot, even if it wasn’t as gorgeous as the image I feel in love with. Of course my son knew I wanted to take a picture of him and decided to get a little cranky. He knows now that when he sees my camera or phone he either runs or say, “Mama no pictures please.” Well, here is how it went (in case any momtogs want to try it out, especially with a boy)…
Photo one-since the original images that I’m trying to imitate was with both subjects lying down in reverse directions I thought it would be easier to hang my son then to get him to lay there. I almost got the photo but he wasn’t looking at me and I couldn’t see all of his cute little facial features. .jpg)
Photo 2 (with a million in between) This is as good as it’s going to get. They are both smiling and their heads are pretty close together. It would have been awesome if my son’s hair wasn’t flying all over the place and if while taking the photo I would have zoomed it a little closer…and really just had them lying down, but I’ll take it!
I just love everything about his image except for my husband’s nasty armpit hairs. I mean, come on I know he just wanted to match what my son was wearing but keep that arm down next time honey. .jpg)
