Hellen, Rogerio & Baby Valentina. Classic Newborn. Los Angeles Newborn Photographer.

She’s a fashion designer and he is in finance. As I walked into their home my eyes popped out like one of those cartoon character’s that has gone gah gah over something. Yup that was me. I was drooling over all of Hellen’s fabrics. She had every color lace I could dream of so of course I had to incorporate them into our newborn session. Rogerio was a jokester and always wanted to do his impression of Ben Stiller in “Zoolander.” Then I laid my eyes on baby Valentina and I was bit by the love bug.  Valentina was born on February 12, 2014 weighing in at 6.11 oz and she was 20 inches long.

Her dad said, “I hope one day she becomes a Victoria Secret model. You know she get’s her looks after me.” We all knew he was kidding, but this is why I immediately feel for this little family. Their love and laughter kept the entire session light and effortless. Now before you make judgement on Rogerio for his comment, I must say his wife is so flawless she could be a VS model herself so we totally all knew he was kidding. Actually he should of said that she could be the next Ms. Universe because her background is already so unique (well I think so). Hellen is Italian and Rogerio is part German and part American, yet these two amazing parents are both from Brazil and I was intrigued even more whenI heard them speak in Portuguese to their daughter. So, yes Ms. Valentina, one day you might just be the next Ms. Universe, but for now, have a Happy First Month Birthday!

Eloise. Newborn. {Session 3}

This is session number three ya’ll. I hope you all aren’t bored to death with my children yet. It is really important for me to document this new little being in our lives as well as keep up my photography skills-can’t get rusty now! Sibling relationships are fascinating to me. I think back on all of the laughable moments, cat fights and intense conversations I’ve had with my four sisters and I couldn’t have been more grateful to have them in my life. Of Course, every one of us has gotten on the other’s nerves or borrowed a new (tag still on) top from the other’s closet with out asking first. So what happens after this? You pull hair, call each other some creative names, rehash some old boyfriend dirt from the past and repeat. Oh the joys of having sisters. But really though, I love them and wouldn’t trade my sisters for the world. Now, getting back to why I decided this as my third session. It was to watch and learn how a brother and sister relationship actually develops. I’ve always, I mean ALWAYS wanted a big brother. For one, I’m the eldest so just an older anything would have been cool, and second I always longed for a brother to put their arm over my shoulder when I fell down and cut my knee.  Now, it’s only fitting to start this post with… well of course the big brother placing his arm around his little sister.

You know I’m going to have to caption most of these, right?

This has got to be one of my top favorites. Baby girl is like, “Please don’t squish my one week old body.” While he is like,  “You are my sister and I’m going to protect ya, ya hear!”What in the world are they thinking about? Or are they singing a little medley? This one is my favorite. He is a proud big brother and she is a content little sister.“Kiss me you fool!”
“If you say so!”Tongue out, arms up, don’t care…
“P. U.  brother, your pits stank!”“Hey you think a sponge bath left you so clean? I think not!”“Word to our mother!” Okay tell me they don’t look like they are posing for a child’s rap cover album. HA!“Really this is all you do? I thought we were going to play some basketball and tennis when you got out?”“Wayne’s world…party time!”“Okay mother, we’ve had enough of this paparazzi business!”

Eloise. Newborn. {Session Two}. Los Angeles Newborn Photography.

My sweet love. She was planned, but was a complete surprise. We knew we were going to add another addition to our family, it was just a matter of when. The moment I looked down and read those two pink lines I was overcome with happiness and then quickly started to research “E” boy names. Most couples that I know or knew of (instagram) that had their boy first usually  were blessed with another one right after. I was mentally prepared to welcome little spunky E numero two. Wowzas were we surprised when the ultrasound tech laid the “g” word on us. BUT, she then went on to tell us that our pretty little girl was a bit shy. She wouldn’t open her legs all the way. The tech was still only 99% accurate that our second child’s sex was female. Ugggh! I’m the kinda gal that likes certainty, needs routine, and is a planner to the max. So, when I heard 99% you might as well have said a big fat zero. I couldn’t rest, I couldn’t come up with girl names, or even so much as look at anything pink at Target. We checked again, and again. Yes, ladies and gentlemen I checked until someone said I was, without a doubt, having a girl. But guess what? Since the last couple of looks weren’t 100% I still couldn’t sleep right. My family convinced me that my baby was definitely going to be a pretty little lady and I should start thinking of names, decorating her nursery and yada, yada. I did, but kept tags on almost everything. I know, that was a little much, but I wanted to be able to exchange everything (if I needed to). I prayed to God over and over again, not for a girl but for our baby’s health and both of our safety during delivery.

The moment of truth came when my midwife encouraged me to push one last time. I grunted, slowly opened my eyes and smiled, while whispering, “she is a girl, she’s a girl and a healthy one.” We were both healthy and safe and that is all I could have ever wanted…being able to tie bows and dress my daughter up in pinks and golds is just icing on the cake. God is great and has blessed us beyond words.

Here is session two. Every session that I post was taken over several days.

7 lbs. 13 oz.

20 in.

Hello world, meet the newest member of our family. God blessed us on Monday, August 12th with our pretty pretty princess. We are so in love!

Over the next couple of weeks I will post a series of newborn photos. These are a few samples of my Fall 2013 newborn collection, which include various colors, head pieces, tutus, wraps, and baskets. For this first session I used different colored blankets, headpieces (for girls), and wraps. Although this is a girl’s newborn session I do now have a variety of boy blankets, hats and beanies, and wraps.

To get this ooey gooey sleepy goodness newborns should have their photos taken anywhere from birth to ten days of their squishy little lives. They are sleepier, more bendable, and  can fit into pretty much any bin before they get their first real growth spurt. I am more than willing to take newborn photos of your adorable son or daughter up to three weeks old, but you might not get the same amount of  images and variety of looks. Please come back and visit to see session two (baskets and backgrounds) and session three (sibling photos).

Congratulations Juan and Stephanie! You seriously have one cutie pa-to-tie on your hands!!

By the way, Stephanie and Juan are originally from Queens, New York and will be heading back there this month. It feels kinda cool being able to take photos that will hang on walls and be shown to family and friends on the other side of the country.

This one is my favorite! She looks so pretty and peaceful.

Those lips!
