Paola & Nick | Maternity

I’m back…yes I’ve taken more than a little hiatus from this blogging life. Not from photography, at all, I think it was actually the fact that I had so much photography work (which is always a good thing-scratch that- except for my blog) that I didn’t have enough time for blog posts. Well enough of my semi-explanation let’s take a look at my most recent maternity session.

Meet Paola and Nick. Isn’t it so interesting how this world is so small, especially in this “social media” one where we think someone might be worlds aways but you could just bump into them at your local Target (insert emoji of woman with one hand lifted sideways). Well, that sort of happened here, sort of. My husband and Nick (father-to-be) went to high school together. We met and the three of us hung out one night in our town. Years later Paola (mommy-to-be) finds my feed through a friend’s post and voíla we are here documenting all of her belly’s beauty.

Paola and Nick are so excited for the arrival of their baby, who’s due in late August. And…I can’t wait to meet their little one because yup they booked me for their Newborn session as well. Bring on the baby fever. Just kidding, I only like to smell them now. Throughout the session these two were all over another giggling and teasing one another like they were newlyweds. It was so sweet I almost thought I was shooting their engagement session instead of their maternity. Yup you could say “all the feels” for this one!

Oh and check out Paola’s hair and dress…work it mama!

Luca | Newborn |Riverside Newborn Photography

Darling Lucia Camila was born on December 22nd, weighing in at 6lbs 4.3 oz. and 18.9 inches. Her mom and dad lovingly call her Luca for short. She may have been a ‘lil thang coming into this world, but when we met she already, according to her mother, had a rough and tough little ‘tude which apparently she got from her auntie. I loved it! It reminded me of my own daughter and I guess myself, shy at first and then we break out of our cocoon and become beautiful confident butterflies.

Her parents already adore her but told me in all honesty they were suffering by trying to keep up with her nocturnal sleeping patterns. Sound familiar? For me it totally does! After three kids I can kinda claim I’m an expert, right? Well, like the familiar 00’s phrase went, “You ain’t gotta lie to kick it!” Here’s the truth. My son didn’t sleep on his own in his own bed till he was two and a half. Yes, it was partly our fault being first time parents but we also didn’t realize that it was our lack of confidence that he could feel oozing out of our groins that made him insecure and want to sleep with us. Another reason why we failed was because we didn’t use the best baby sleeper in the world at that time, which was the Rock -n- Play. This was a life saver with my two other children. They slept in it like a bug in a rug because it snuggles them nice and cozy like they sleeping in arms. Plus new research show that all infants and babies, should sleep at an angle, so air can flow freely and they don’t choke on their spit. And my last bit of advice, which I got from another mom was to give your his last bottle, for the nigh,t as formula (if you are nursing which I did). Formula keeps them asleep longer because it is thicker and allows them to stay full unlike nursing which is thin and makes them hungry after a few hours. We used this method with our last and it worked wonders as well.  Hopefully these little tips help someone out there and of course Francisco and Janet.

Fransisco and Janet, as the saying goes, the days are long but the years are short. Enjoy each sleepless night because it will not be long before she’s grown and no long this teeny.

Penelope | Baby’s First Christmas | San Gabriel

Christmas time is all sorts of magic, especially when your little one is celebrating their first ONE! I think this Baby’s First Christmas photo session is a perfectly modern way to create this sort of time capsule of memories, just like a traditional ornament. Penelope just had her first Christmas and if it looked anything like her fairy tale like bedroom then it had to be a good one! Penelope’s mom, Vanessa and I went to high school together so I was super excited to photograph her little trio. Since we follow each other on Instgram I was already swooning about how gorgeous her home’s light was going to be and yup it was spot on perfection! Then Vanessa, she’s got some chic style! I mean I drool over fur, pinks, and gold and well she had it all! It was like walking into a Domino Magazine spread…delightful!

Oh and then I met Penelope and she was beyond the epitome of joy. Throughout the entire session she just was beaming with little specks of sunshine. I think I’m going to give her the award for most smiles recorded during a photo session. Really, she smiled at everyone and everything we handed to her. Thank you Penelope for not making me force out too many (probably freakishly weird)  google-eyed faces and sounding like I’m an “ah-goo” broken record. I mean my skills to do work, but I get a face work out every-single-time I’m trying to make a baby show me their two front teeth. Well Vanessa your family is beautiful and so is your magazine-worthy home!

Janet | Maternity | Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden

Janet and Francisco have been praying, thinking, and dreaming of having a little one run around their home for over more then a few years. My husband and I went to college with Francisco with what seems like ages ago and have stayed friends with them ever since. We have been praying by their side for as long as I can remember. So, I literally screamed with an overwhelming sense of joy when they announced to us their pregnancy. Francisco is a busy engineer and Janet has been working with children for quiet a while now, so for them to soon have a child of their own is worth a million and one photos. So when Francisco took us to this gorgeous location it seemed just perfect for their beautiful belly. Her name will be Lucia Camila. Here is the beginning of their amazing journey into parenthood. Congratulations my friends!2017-01-17_00022017-01-17_00032017-01-17_00042017-01-17_00052017-01-17_00062017-01-17_00072017-01-17_00082017-01-17_00092017-01-17_00102017-01-17_00112017-01-17_00132017-01-17_00142017-01-17_00152017-01-17_00162017-01-17_00172017-01-17_00182017-01-17_0019

Amanda | Maternity | Brea

If you are an optimist then you believe in silver linings and how beautiful and bright rainbows always follow storms to give hope. There is no more truer hope then the one of a new life. Amanda, her husband, and big brother, Benjamin have been patiently waiting for this moment, to celebrate their future daughter and little sister.

When Amanda contacted me to photograph her maternity session I was as pumped as a mom walking through Trader Joe’s and finding the last box of Pumpkin Joes in October (that was a mouthful). They are like the cutest little pumpkin family I ever did see. Can you tell how excited I am about pumpkin season?! Well they are…and then she told me they were having a GIRL! I am so excited for their new baby, journey into the two-kid zone, and that their babe is a girl! Amanda is so gorgeous I can’t wait to meet a mini-her!

Nihaal | Family & First Birthday Smash | Orange County

The Pooni family looking all spiffy in cobalt blue, a first birthday, and well my favorite open field made for a pretty perfect summer session! Let me introduce to Nihaal. He turned one over the summer and I was the lucky one to meet such a character. Hands down Nihaal makes the best faces ever! He amused us with smiles and puckers throughout his entire birthday session. If someone had a camera on me too you’d see us all cracking up. I have a feeling he’s going to be the life of the party one day. Until then here are some of my favorites of the lovely Pooni family of three.

Our Babe | Part Two | Newborn Photography

What can I say, I’m a bit obsessed with taking photos of my kids. I just can’t help myself! It’s their little toes, squishy noses, and overall innocence that gets me. Like they say, “time flies” and boy it sure does! I get all emotional just thinking about how I started my photography business. When my son was born a little over four years ago I really wanted to capture every single possible moment of his life. It took us a little while to get pregnant so when he arrived I couldn’t help but take a daily, weekly, monthly, and each milestone photo. Once I started clicking I literally couldn’t stop. I knew I was passionate about photography when I was in high school, but I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed making people smile (especially my son) and capturing those beautiful images. Now I am so obsessed with trying to perfect the ideal balance between a pretty posed shot and a effortlessly beautiful candid image that I want to practice on my children all the time. Here are a little bit of both types of photos. And now that our family is complete I really want to make sure I get as many of their “growing up together” moments before they all part their ways into adult hood and all I’m left with are my memories and these photos of my beautiful babes! (I know those last couple of lines had my throat in a knot) 2015-07-13_00202015-07-13_00022015-07-13_00032015-07-13_00042015-07-13_00052015-07-13_00062015-07-13_00072015-07-13_00082015-07-13_00092015-07-13_00102015-07-13_00112015-07-13_00122015-07-13_00132015-07-13_00142015-07-13_00152015-07-13_00162015-07-13_00172015-07-13_00182015-07-13_00192015-07-13_00212015-07-13_00222015-07-13_00232015-07-13_00242015-07-13_0025

Nina & J.R. and Madden, Emmett & Brielle | Family| Descanso Gardens

Meet the Darling family, aren’t they just darling?! Ha, I just had to! Nina had very much wanted to finally get her family in front of the camera for their first professional photo session as a complete family of five. Why complete? Well, she said that was it, that her and her husband had their sweet daughter Brielle and they knew their family was perfect! Two princes and a princess sounds pretty good to me! I had an immediate connection as soon as we met. Their son’s name is Emmett and all their children are around two years apart. “Hey, ” I mentioned to Nina,  “just like me and my children.” Like any mothers would do, we discussed the trial and tribulations of having three, making adult time, and basically keeping it all together. I had mentioned to her that I feel like everyday I hear someone saying, “Oh three? The third one always makes things crazy.” Nina reassured me that the dynamics of the family do shift, but it’s manageable and the more the merrier! By the looks of how her and J.R. handled their first photo session as a family of five, I totally believe her! Congratulations Nina and J.R. on your beautiful family. Side note, Nina didn’t want to find out the gender of her last babe (you know because of the odds) and what a surprise to have Brielle Darling pop on out to greet them!2015-02-25_00012015-02-25_00022015-02-25_00032015-02-25_00042015-02-25_00052015-02-25_00062015-02-25_00072015-02-25_00082015-02-25_00092015-02-25_00102015-02-25_00112015-02-25_00122015-02-25_00142015-02-25_00152015-02-25_00162015-02-25_00172015-02-25_00182015-02-25_00192015-02-25_00202015-02-25_00212015-02-25_00222015-02-25_00232015-02-25_00242015-02-25_00252015-02-25_00262015-02-25_00272015-02-25_00282015-02-25_00292015-02-25_00302015-02-25_00312015-02-25_00322015-02-25_00332015-02-25_00342015-02-25_00352015-02-25_00362015-02-25_00372015-02-25_0038
